A new website for a new organization

The Ask

Calibrate Earth was a new organization focused on helping young people from under-resourced communities develop the skills, confidence, and connections to become leaders in their communities.

They had a logo, visual identity, and design system, but no website. They needed a place to explain what they do, introduce their programs, attract volunteers, and begin fundraising.

The person leading Calibrate knew about my pro-bono work with nonprofits and asked me to help build the site.

The Work

I worked from Calibrate's existing design system and built the site in WordPress.

The first step was figuring out how to organize the content. Calibrate had several programs and audiences to speak to, so the site's information architecture needed to make it easy for someone new to the organization to understand what they do and how to get involved.

I also built a custom donation plugin for WordPress using Stripe. It allows donors to choose their own amount, select a predefined giving level, and make either a one-time or monthly donation.

The Result

The site gave Calibrate a place to tell its story and explain its work as the organization got started.

It also gave them a way to begin fundraising directly through the site and to reach people who wanted to volunteer or learn more about their programs.

For a new organization, having that foundation in place meant they could start sharing their work with the wider community and building the support they needed to move forward.
