Privacy Policy

Effective November 5, 2026byNiko is my independent web practice, run by one person. This policy explains what I collect through byniko.com and through ByNiko Reports, the private tool I use to prepare monthly reports for my clients. If you have a question or request, reach me through my contact page.

This website

Contact and project forms. If you fill in a form on this site, I receive what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number, organization and message. The forms are delivered by Formspree. I use what you send to reply to you and to discuss your project, and I don't add you to a mailing list.Visit statistics. This site uses Vercel Analytics to show me which pages get visited. Vercel also hosts the site and may keep technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run and protect it.

ByNiko Reports

ByNiko Reports isn't a public app. It runs on my own computer, and I'm the only person who signs in to it with Google. I use it only for clients who have asked me to manage or report on their Google Business Profile.

What Google data it reads

When I sign in, I authorize the tool with the Google permission business.manage. Google describes that permission as seeing, editing, creating and deleting business listings, but ByNiko Reports only reads information. It doesn't change listings, post, or reply to reviews. It reads:

  • the Google Business Profile accounts and listings my sign-in can manage, including their names and identifying numbers

  • each client listing's monthly performance numbers: profile views, website clicks, calls and direction requests

  • each client listing's average rating and total review count. To get these, the tool requests one review from Google. It keeps only the rating and the count, and doesn't save the review or the reviewer's details

Separately, a client can give the tool read-only access to their Google Search Console and Google Analytics data. It saves search, traffic and key event numbers from those services for the same monthly reports.

How that data is used

I use this data only to prepare that client's reports, to help me advise that client on their marketing, and to check and fix the reports. I don't use it for advertising, and I don't sell it.

Where it's stored

  • Sign-in:

my Google sign-in is saved in a protected file on my computer.

  • Report data:

numbers from Google are saved as files on my computer, including my backups.

  • Reports:

finished reports are published to my web host, in a password-protected folder for each client. Each client sees only their own report.

Who else can receive it

I share this data only in these ways:

  • The client:

each client sees the reports about their own business.

  • My web host:

    stores the published reports.

  • AI coding assistant:

I use Claude Code, made by Anthropic, to build and check the reports. Doing so can send report data, including these numbers, to Anthropic for processing. I don't include my Google sign-in in that work.

  • Legal reasons:

I may disclose data if the law requires it.

Keeping and deleting it

I keep a client's report data while I'm working with them, so that reports can compare months and years. If a client asks me to delete their data, or our work ends and they ask for it to be removed, I'll delete it from my computer, backups and published reports within 30 days. I'll keep something only if the law requires it, and I'll say so.A client can stop this access at any time by removing my access to their Google Business Profile, Search Console or Analytics. I can also withdraw my own sign-in from the Google Account permissions page.

Google's Limited Use requirements

ByNiko Reports' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Security

I limit access to these files, protect client reports with passwords and keep my sign-in details out of published pages. No system is perfectly secure, so if a problem affects your data, I'll tell you.

Your choices

You can ask me what information I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have other legal rights too. Contact me through my contact page. This site and ByNiko Reports aren't intended for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll update this page and its date. If I want to use Google data in a new way, I'll update this policy and get the permission that use requires first.
