A website for a community arts festival

The Ask

Procession was a community performance and festival exploring the history of the Los Angeles River.

The project included storytelling workshops, guided walks, performances, community leaders, and an augmented reality exhibition. They needed a website that could bring all of those pieces together and give people a clear way to understand the project and participate.

The Work

I worked with Procession's designer to build the site as a custom WordPress theme.

A big part of the work was figuring out how to organize the different parts of the festival - events, workshops, performances, participants, and the AR exhibition - so visitors could find the information they needed without having to understand how the project was organized behind the scenes.

I built the templates and functionality needed to present that content, while working within the visual system provided by the designer.

The Result

The website gave Procession a central place to explain the project, share its schedule and activities, and help people participate.

It brought the different parts of the festival together without treating them as separate pieces of information.
